A very fast growing, medium sized tree of broadly columnar habit with leaves up to 20cm long, each with 3-7 separate, sometimes lobed leaflets. The leaves can turn yellow in autumn, but they can also drop without colouring.

Male and female flowers are borne on separate plants in pendulous, tassel like clusters before the leaves appear.

Soil: Well drained, moist. Acid, alkaline or neutral. Chalk, clay, sand or loam.

Aspect: Full sun or part shade.

Suitable Locations: Architectural, cottage/informal, low maintenance gardens, city/courtyard.
