A vigorous, medium sized deciduous tree. The leaves are large, 5 lobed and deep purple-crimson all summer. Small clusters of red tinged yellow flowers appear in spring. Fast growing and pollution tolerant. Thrives in almost any soil, including clay.

Soil: Well drained, moist. Acid, alkaline or neutral.

Aspect: Full sun or part shade.

Suitable Locations: Sheltered, architectural, low maintenance gardens.
