An exceptionally tough and hardy medium to large sized tree with a broadly conical form. The dark green leaves grow to 10cm long and are blue-green beneath, pointed at the tip and edged with small, sharp teeth. The yellow brown cat5kins open in late winter or early spring and are tinged red at first.

Soil: Moist soil.

Suitable Locations: Cold, exposed and damp sites.
