Liriodendron tulipifera – Tulip Tree
A vigorous, large growing deciduous tree of broadly columnar habit, with bold dark green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. The unusually shaped leaves have 2 lobes at the truncated tip and 2 more at the base. Cup-shaped, tulip-like flowers, which are orange at the base and banded with green toward the tip open in early to mid-summer
Soil: Fertile, humus rich, well drained soil.
Aspect: Full sun or part shade.
Suitable Locations: Sheltered, parklands and large gardens. Plant in final position as it is intolerant of transplanting.
