Malus sylvestris
A small, rounded tree with green ovate leaves and clusters of pink tinged, white flowers, up to 5cm across appear in spring. Yellow-green, sometimes red flushed fruits, 2-3cm across follow the flowers in autumn.
Soil: Moist, well drained soils. Most suited to heavy/clay soils.
Aspect: Full sun, will tolerate part shade.
Location: Wildflower meadow, low maintenance gardens, exposed and windy, small gardens or wildlife gardens.
