This popular Japanese cherry makes a small, deciduous tree of narrow habit with upright branches and dark green, sharply toothed leaves. The foliage is bronze coloured when young, turning red and orange in autumn. Upright clusters of semi-double, fragrant pale pink flowers open in late spring.

Soil: Thrives in most well drained soils.

Aspect: Full sun. Sheltered or exposed.

Suitable Locations: Street plantings, gardens, areas with limited space.
