A medium sized, vigorous deciduous tree that is vase shaped when young with upright branches that later spread more widely. The sharply toothed leaves end in a fine, tapered point and are deep bronze coloured when young. Clusters of large, purple-pink, double flowers open in spring as the young leaves emerge.

Soil: Fertile, moist soil with good drainage. Chalk/clay.

Aspect: Full sun.
