A very hardy, medium sized deciduous tree with a stiffly upright, symmetrical habit. Glossy green, pointed leaves turn shades of crimson and burgundy in autumn. White flowers, tinged with pink are borne in clusters in spring.

Soil: Grows well in all well drained soils.

Aspect: Full sun or part shade.

Suitable Locations: Parks, city/courtyard, gardens. Can be used for screening and pleaching.

Other: Tolerates air pollution, fairly resistant to salt winds.
