Quercus cerris – Turkey Oak
A large, fast growing deciduous tree with deeply ridged bark. The glossy, dark green leaves are edged with up to 6, usually rounded lobes on each side, turning yellow to yellow-brown in autumn. Large acorns ripen in 18 months and are borne in a cup densely covered with slender scales.
Soil: Grows well in any well drained soils.
Aspect: Full sun.
Suitable Locations: Urban sites, verges, parks, woodlands.
