Salix alba – White Willow
A large, vigorous, deciduous tree, usually broadly columnar with sharply toothed leaves ending in long, tapering points. Young leaves are silvery and hairy, becoming green above, blue green beneath. Small catkins open as the leaves emerge in spring.
Soil: Grows best in wet soil, and will tolerate temporary flooding, it will also grow well in most soils.
Aspect: Full sun.
Suitable Locations: Damp sites, coastal, exposed, parks. Pollarding.
