A fast growing, small sized deciduous tree of a broadly conical habit with purple young shoots with white blooms in winter. The leaves are slender, dark green and taper pointed, blue-green beneath and small catkins open in the spring, as or before the new leaves emerge.

Soil: Will grow in most conditions, including very poor, permanently waterlogged soils.

Aspect: Full sun.

Suitable Locations: Coastal, exposed and windy sites, damp sites.
