Salix elaeagnos
A large deciduous shrub or small tree producing slender, upright shoots that are densely covered in grey hairs when they are young. Narrow, dark green rosemary-like leaves, grey coloured at first and blue-white beneath, turn yellow in autumn. Slender catkins open as the young leaves start to emerge in spring.
Soil: Will grow in most conditions, including very poor, permanently waterlogged soils.
Aspect: Full sun.
Suitable Locations: Coastal, exposed and windy sites, damp sites.
