A large, broadly columnar, deciduous tree with rounded, sharply toothed and abruptly pointed dark green leaves, softly downy beneath, turning yellow in autumn. Clusters of small, fragrant pale yellow flowers open in early to mid-summer.

Soil: Grows well in any well drained soil.

Aspect: Full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.

Suitable Locations: Parks, woodlands, countryside/farmland.
