A medium to large deciduous, broadly columnar tree with spreading or arching branches and very glossy dark green leaves edged with fine teeth, turning yellow in autumn. Pendulous clusters of small, pale yellow, fragrant flowers hang from the branches in mid-summer.

Soil: Grows best in deep, moist fertile soils, but will grow in much worse conditions.

Aspect: Full sun.

Suitable Locations: Parks, urban sites, pleaching.
