David Frost (Managing Director)

David has always had a keen interest in horticulture and at the age of 15, he started growing and selling plants from his garden at home and later, with the help from his parents set up a small retain nursery. In 1977, along with his wife Ann, David formed D.W.Frost (Wholesale Nurseries) Ltd to focus on his love for growing plants. He became the joint managing director at Glendale Industries Limited in 1989, a thriving landscaping and grounds maintenance company. After 4 successful years, David left to concentrate on D.W.Frost (Wholesale Nurseries) Ltd. As Managing Director, David ensures a smooth running of the growing nursery.

Hobbies: Restoring and working vintage tractors.

Ann Frost (Company Secretary)

Ann worked in a local firm of stock brokers, firstly as a junior in the stock transfer department working her way to the position of secretary to the senior partner. During 1977, Ann jointly formed D.W.Frost (Wholesale Nurseries) Ltd with her husband David, having previously assisted with the running of David Frost (Trees) Ltd, which included a garden centre, nursery and landscaping department. Knowing very little about plants, Ann had to learn very quickly and through 35 years running the office and working in the plant centre when required, Ann has gained considerable experience in the industry. Ann now oversees the running of the office and attends to all HR issues and other duties that fall outside the remit of the other staff.

Hobbies: Horse riding, Reading, Classical Music and playing the piano.

Lance Woodward (Sales Manager)

Having gained considerable experience in the industry at another Nursery, Lance joined the DW.Frost team in September 2011 as Dispatch Manager. Sine January 2017 Lance has been working in the office, taking over from Chris Frost as Sales Manager. Lance quotes customer plant enquiries by email, fax or over the phone and then organises the transport and the dispatching of the orders. Lance holds a forklift license and has obtained chemical spraying and first aid at work certificates.

Hobbies: Socialising with friends, cars, motor cycling (particularly motor-cross) and cycling.

Shem Hale (Sales Administrator & Buyer)

Shem started working at D.W.Frost (Wholesale Nurseries) Ltd in November 2015, having previously worked as a Sales Assistant. Shem is in charge of processing orders, delivery notes and invoices, updating the in-house stock management software, updating the website and social media pages and making sure the office runs smoothly. Having graduated from University with a BSc (Hons) in Education Studies and English, Shem has no previous experience in the horticulture sector and has had to learn everything from scratch.

Hobbies: Going to the gym, watching movies, reading and walking her Border Terrier.

Henry Scott (Plant Centre Assistant Manager)

Henry started working at Frost’s Plant Centre in 2018, bringing with him a degree in English and previous experience in horticulture and retail. Henry grew succulents & cacti at a nursery in Berkshire which have been used in RHS show gardens, but is now focusing on trees, shrubs & more with Frost’s.

Hobbies: reading, going for walks, tending to his succulents, football

Terry Copley (Plant Centre Manager)

Terry joined the team in May after working in the Landscape, Horticulture and Arboriculture industries since leaving school, with a break in the Armed Forces. Having more recently worked and managed in the Retail sector he brings over 35 years of experience, training and knowledge to the company to help guide, advise and assist trade and retail customers in his new role of Plant Centre Manager.

Hobbies: Socialising with friends and family, football and motor racing.

Rosie Pretty (Plant Centre Team)

Rosie joined the Plant centre team in 2017 with an admiration of plants; she is a kind and positive individual who has prior experience working as a carer. Despite being new to horticulture Rosie has been working hard learning all about different plants and their nuances. Her role at the Plant Centre involves the general care and maintenance of the plants, which includes watering, weeding and pruning. She also assists customers with their purchases, and she very much enjoys working outside.

Adam Green (Plant Centre Team)

Adam joined the company in May 2016 after previously gaining 6 years experience as a Ground Care Assistant in the horticultural sector. Adam’s role within the Plant Centre is to weed and water the plants, keep the Plant Centre tidy and assist customers with their purchases.

Hobbies: Watching Leicester Tigers.

Lindsay Towle (Plant Centre Team)

Lindsay is a hard-working, diligent and caring individual, who was a nurse for 22 years before joining us here at Frost’s. Lindsay is an experienced member of the Plant Team, coupling excellent organisational ability with extensive horticultural knowledge. She enjoys aiding the administration of the Plant Centre, sales, and the general maintenance of the plants.

Hobbies: Running, Walking the dogs, Looking after the grandkids & a spot of gardening

Carl Bentley (Tree Department Supervisor)

Carl started working at D.W.Frost (Wholesale Nurseries) Ltd in 2010. Carl is responsible for planting our new tree stock and is in charge of maintaining them through the growth process until we require them to be lifted.

Hobbies: Swimming and football. Carl is the Vice Chairman of his local football club and is a coach for the U17s team. Carl is a qualified coach and referee with the FA.

Pat Hopkinson (HGV Driver)

Pat joined the DW Frost team in 1978 and has worked in many sectors within the business gaining positions of propagation foreman, tree foreman and nursery foreman before becoming the main HGV driver. He has achieved the City & Guilds 1+11 in Amenity Horticulture, ATB Craftsman, NCH in Nursery Practices and he also holds the PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificate.  Delivering orders nationwide and helping with nursery maintenance and spraying are chief responsibilities.

Hobbies: Walking his dog, vintage tractors and anything mechanical.

Jack & Ben (Security Team)

Jack came to us as an eight week old puppy in 2004 and he is black and white, hairy and very knowledgeable in the field of escaping, chasing rabbits and birds and barking at the window cleaner.

We got Ben as a 2 year old in 2011 from a rescue centre after being abandoned. Ben is a tri-coloured Collie and is rapidly learning from Jack and excels in office security.

Hobbies: Eating (especially unattended lunches!), playing with toys and enjoying a good walk around the nursery.
